Percussion Trio Short Bio and Critical Acclaim from the Press:
Global Percussion Trio was founded in 1994 by Barry Dove with
the interest of exploring world music. The credentials of the trio's
members Barry Dove, Joe
McCarthy, and Robert Jenkins include studies
at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, Hartt School of Music, University
of North Texas, University of Ghana in Accra. Members perform with
the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, United States Naval Academy Band,
Richmond Symphony, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony
Orchestra, Contemporary Music Forum and the National Theatre Playbill.
Currently, members of the trio teach at UMBC, Georgetown and Loyola
College.
The Washington Post's critic cited '...superhuman
dexterity...exceptionally virtuosic...Barry Dove is a marvelous
player'. The Baltimore Sun cited 'Hot Global Percussion
Trio'.
GPT has recorded CD's for Robert Macht's 'Suite
for Javanese Gamelan and Synthesizer' 1996, 'Vishnu'
1999, and has recently recorded their debut CD 'Global
Percussion Trio'.
